Pilot Profile: Bald Beaver
Late night fleet often has non-TLF members fleeted, typically the odd Star Fraction pilot that flew with HUANG back in the NMTZ alliance days. But there is one permanent and founding member, a pilot of the Gallente Militia that has made his home here among the Minmatar: Bald Beaver.
Bald is probably one of the more generous pilots I know of—he has donated richly to many less-well off...

The ROSS POS tower appears to be on a run, doing better than most ROSS pilots. Today alone it appears to have garnered 4 kills, including an awesome fail by none other than Predator Elite. He is not having a good day.

Missed a couple of good ones...
So, being out of pod last night, I always peruse the combat logs. Darn, clearly missed a good fight that killed a lot of Amarr. At least my good mates Urik and Koshua were on field to represent. Looks like Shalee avoided losing her ship too, oddly enough, given the number of Amarr casualties.
Then my eye was caught by a number of Amarr cap ship losses. Holy Eight Immortals, what the hell is...
Welcome to the Amarr Militia
So, I was in pod very briefly yesterday, just to move some new battlecruisers from a secure location in Osoggur to the war front in Auga. As I activated pod controls, Bald Beaver sent a fleet invite, which I accepted.
Loading up the new Hurricane and getting systems checks from both my pod inputs and crew, I undocked and jumped into Amamake. As I landed on Auga gate, my corp-mate Koshua,...

TLF Legends: Dagren Darius
I’m posting this profile to celebrate my good friend and comrade-at-arms Dagren’s 2000+ logged kill. Dagren Darius joined TLF as a recruit just two weeks out of Caldari Provisions. Disgusted with the corporate grip of the Caldari interstellar monopolies, yet not willing to lift an active hand against his own people, he joined TLF after only a month in Interstellar Brotherhood of...

Late Night Fleet Unwritten Rules: Gank Avoidance
So, after some new invitees to the late night fleet led us into a complete ambush (look at the losses from 8:39 EvE time only—also not all losses were posted), here are some simple rules. Some of these are Late Night Specific, some are just good skirmish rules in general. And a note to any pilots that may feel impugned—we’ve all let ourselves into ambushes and and ganks, and...

Poetry
“The Vherokior man wore unadorned robes and a simple tatoo, his ship was bright as frost and snow. The silver stars illuminated the craft, its wild flight was like a shooting star. To kill one brigand within three jumps, and not leave a trace within a thousand AU. To leave with a flick of one’s burners after the deed is done, to deeply hide until CONCORD relents. To drink...

Face of the Enemy, Part 4
It’s eventually going to come out, so I’ll admit it here. Yes, I flew to Amarr and was a guest of Commodore Lianne at her private residence there. Yes, I did offer to become her sifu in the ways of wuxia. Yes, I did give her a basic wuxia skillbook.
Why? I’m not even certain myself. I have been seeking a student for some time, someone who shared my own values of loyalty,...

A little waiting can pay off...
So, there I was, taking over a fleet composed of about 33% late nighters and then a bunch of militia guys. After popping a Gallente Miltia pirate, I leroyed my Cyclone as bait into a VETO HAC gang and got completely owned (and dammit, not one VETO ship pointed by my blob that landed) despite LP McDuff’s Scimitar on field (the 2 VETO curses took him out of the picture quickly). Now in a...

TLF Fail of the Week #4
It is my sad but impartial duty to nominate my fellow Late Nighters for this week’s TLF Fail of the Week. I don’t know who was on scout/recon duty here, but YOU FAILED. Or perhaps the IFW battle cry of “Leroy” drowned out all common sense and survival instincts, though any IFW pilot worth his ISK would respond “Huh? What survival instincts?”
Hmmm…...

Traditional Vherokior Recipes: Pan-fried...
Curtiss Hawk, a fellow Vherokior, asked me to post my clan’s famous Vherokior pan friend dumpings recipe. It’s quite involved and usually done by a number of clan members all working together—we have quite a large Vherokior lunar new year’s celebration on Pator every year, where these dumplings are center stage. So, here it is!

Missed another Cap Kill...
The Late Night Fleet strikes again, adding to its impressive list of cap ship kills. Only, I wasn’t there. At least Dohl and Urik were, to represent for HUANG. I’m also really happy to see a pilot from Universal Exports, really old comrades-at-arms with Huang Yinglong, from our old anti-piracy days in Molden Heath. My good amigo Pel Ukken was there too <sniff>. This is one...

5 teaspoons dark soy sauce

(ex) TLF Legends: Sneaky Noob and Pel Ukken
Sneaky and Pel, blood brothers (though Sneaky is of Caldari/Gallente extraction, and Pel is Sebestior Minmatar) and comrades in arms, remain among the most reknowned TLF militia pilots. Pel, though long since retired from TLF, retains a ranking of 27th in all time recorded kills (1688 to his name). Sneaky, who joined the Ice Fire Warriors when Pel left Vitharr’s Vengeance for Cutting Edge...

Life as a Logistics Pilot
A nice battle report from Huola:
2 enemy battleships, a battlecruiser, a recon, and a cruiser killed. One battlecruiser and one cruiser lost. Pretty even odds too. Enemy had e-war, and also a Curse recon cruiser, and a blackbird that showed up later… but I’M NOT ON THE REPORT.
For that matter, neither is that traitor Eran Mintor. Why? Because we were both flying SCIMITARS.
Oh,...

Ninja Strike!
So I’m sorta leading people messing around Huola and Kourmonen gates, flying sexy ships with elite crews and taunting the Amarr docked at their stations, and hoping to catch unwary pilots on their way back, when Militia general reports a sniping Rokh camping the Osoggur gate in Amamake.
“Stealth bombers and recons, anyone?” The fleet all answer “Aye” and Dagren...

HUANG Pilot Profile: Marl Ginnishi
I often sing the praises of the Late Night Fleet and of other well-known HUANG officers with high militia ranks and kills. But I feel that of all HUANG pilots that should be recognized first, Marl Ginnishi, deserves it the most.
A long-standing HUANG pilot, Marl is a dedicated industrialist—without his constant efforts, our POS’s would starve, and the dedicated combat pilots would...

Back in the saddle, or at least, Scimitar
I guess my leave from Late Nite was pretty brief. As in not at all.
In got into my pod and activated systems, still in a shuttle in the Amarr system. Dodging past hostile patrols, I made it back into Kourmonen and noticed an Amarr fleet staging. Bahamut was at the Auga gate as I jumped home, and more Late Nite pilots on the other side.
Grrr… I swapped my shuttle for a scimitar-class...
Just unbelievable... you need to see this for...
So I was admiring Jalmon’s typically amazing combat log, when one caught my eye, a Paladin marauder class battleship. Have to look at that one… and them my eyes nearly fell out.
A MINING PALADIN?!!
What the frack…?
Oh, the horror…

(ex) TLF Legends: Manos Kdo
Manos Kdo, though no longer in TLF and seeking his fortune in the far reaches of null-sec (for the second time), is probably the TLF pilot I now miss the most in Late Night, which I myself have taken a leave from.
Among the most proficient and deadliest warriors I have ever met, he entered TLF as a reformed (or perhaps only ever partially reformed) pirate from Molden Heath. His first day in...
Outnumbered and outfought, over and over again......
For some reason, the normal late night pilots have been totally absent. For many days now I’ve had to command pitiful numbers against Amarr fleets enjoying 3, 4 or 5 to 1 advantages in numbers and ship quality. Last night was the final straw, with large Amarr fleets fighting against just two or three heavily outnumbered militia. Each time we lost one or two brave pilots without being able...

Pod Addiction
In addition to the sad case of addiction to death and rebirth, a more common problem among capsuleers is simply the addiction to the power of being in pod, and in command of a mighty spacecraft.
No one who has not experienced this can understand the feeling of power—you are literally plugged into your ship, and the ship becomes your body. Camera drones and sensors become your eyes, your...

Re-Cloning Addiction Syndrome
I’d heard of this illness that afflicts certain capsuleers—a sickness that addicts them to death and re-birth. Personally, I never know if I’m really the same person each time my body dies—are we just a bunch of data, reallly? Or does our soul actually transfer on that moment of pain and brief mortality?
Anyways, I don’t understand this illness, each time I die...

Eve Standard Date/Time: 2010-8-14 ~05:00 hours
Having sadly missed one of the rare cooperations betwixt Minmatar and Amarr to bash on some aptly named Wildly Inpappropriate pirate fleet, I activated pod systems only to find most of the Late Night Fleet supporting a new recruit on the basics of PvP and missioning. Urik and I then joined the fleet of a commander who more commonly lead day...

The Face of the Enemy, Part 2
I glanced at the chronograph display beamed onto my retinal heads-up. Commodore Liane should be docked already at the X-Sense Chemical Factory in Kourmonen, the one where I’d set up a small neighborhood of emancipated Vherokiors—people I’d freed by finding them in escape capsules post-battle, or simply bought on the open market in the Bleak Lands and brought to the station.

Haven’t had much time in pod lately, and when I do there don’t seem to be many other late-nite fleeters out and about. All I could do was save Sharra’s Proteus from being ganked by an Amarr fleet that did kill Urik’s Ferox. At least Sharra popped the Blackbird first. Oh well, it was so quiet after that that I was able to manage all my planetary facilities and make a run...

TLF Legends: Bahamut
It is quite possible that no other pilot strikes as much fear and hatred among both Amarr and local pirate corps as that of Bahamut, CEO of the reknowned Ice Fire Warriors. Memories
Who put me on the path of the Dragon Knight? That is a long tale, but it all started long ago.
I grew up with relative privilege, the third son of the scion of the modest Kuan clan; we were and remain traders, explorers and merchants. Sometime you listen to the FC, sometimes you don't
I famously bitch that trying to FC the late night crew is like herding cats. Pilots tend to wander from system to system, scouting and searching for targets of opportunity.

TLF Legends: Jalmon
OK, I had planned to write this entry about my good comrade and CEO of the legendary Ice Fire Warriors, Bahamut. However, I believe I need to pay tribute to another pilot first, a legend amongst the capsuleers of the Minmatar Militia and a name whispered in fear by hi-sec Caldari and Amarr pilots: Jalmon. (Sorry Bahamut, I promise that you are next).

A practitioner of Wu Xia
A calm serenity comes over me as I practice the wushu forms of my people’s ancient martial disciplines. Being a pod pilot grants certain advantages when exercising the flowing movements of body, limb, and weapon: implants and nanites give me far greater speed, agility, strength and endurance than an un-modded human. I know that if anyone but another pod pilot were watching, they would only see...

All my years as a pod pilot I’ve followed the ways of our ancient ancestors, who set forth the code of the Xia and the strict path of the Dragon Knight. I spent years flying in Molden Heath as a member of the...

Why I don't fly the Day Fleet →
This cluster 操 says it all. I stick to the Late Night Fleet simply because:
We don’t spend out time warping all over the place from safe spot to tactical and safe spot.
If the enemy outnumbers us, we ship down and pick off scouts and stragglers.
If the enemy ships down, we ship to on par so we can get a decent fight without them running away.
In a more or less even fight, we stay on...
