TLF Legends: Urik Kahn
Today’s pilot profile for TLF legends is my long time corp-mate, comrade, and good friend Urik Kahn. Urik is first and formost known for his combat prowess, ranking 4th on the TLF rolls with 3188 kills in militia and only 102 losses, for a 96.4% efficiency. And that was not gained by flying crappy rifters and T1 cruisers all the time.
A founding member of HUANG, Urik flew for years in...

Kill of the Week
Possibly the first in an onoing series, just highlighting the coolest kill of the week. This week’s goes to the IFW downing of a Core Impulse faction-fitted Kronos Marauder class battleship. 3,696,062,675 ISK !!! loss (I’ve never even had that much cash to my name, sheesh) And bonus, the best faction mod dropped. Some guys have all the luck.
(A close second: this faction...

The Wuxia Skills and Abilities
The martial arts abilities of the xia warrior correspond to the skills trained in both the basic Wuxia skillbooks, and Advanced Wuxia skillbooks.
Basic wuxia Martial Arts and Weapons and Objects at lower levels are comparable to standard hand-to-hand training given Minmatar Marines and Special Forces. However, at levels 4 and 5 ordinary blows such as kicks or punches can have a far more...

Fail Fit #2
This one just leaves me scratching my head… cargo expanders? Micro auxillary power core? And don’t get me started on the rigs…
Please, someone explain this to me!

Taking a break...
In a few days I’ll be planetside for a week with no access to pod systems or very likely even a terminal. I’ll be with clan and kin on a remote island in a tropical archipelago on Pator called “Kauai.”
Fly safe and good hunting to all my comrades, and to my foes, you get a respite!

Star Fraction pilot: "was a fun gang..." →
A new era of cooperation and respect for IFW, at least from one Jericho Fraction pilot? A big difference from a quote from another (anonymous) SF pilot: “…we don’t want to meet IFW halfway. we want to kill them.”
I think many in SF would rather fly with IFW instead! Try it! You’ll like it!
OK, so I will eat my words...
…because last night I flew with some Amarrians from Locus Industries and we scored a big victory against a pirate fleet.
I happened to check pod comms (being pre-occupied with station-side affairs) when I heard Neu Bastian had run into some new pirates camping in Ardar and had called in the Late Nite crew. We were rallying to gank and hot drop this pirate BC fleet, and Locus pilots from...

Never Trust the Amarr...
…and why I hate FCing day fleets.
Today I made the mistake of believing, for a moment, I could trust an Amarr fleet to cooperate in the killing of pirates. Never again.
I had just happened to join a day fleet FC’ed by Nasty1. Apparently they had just lost a few ships to Mugen Industry pirates, and were looking to ship up and deal some payback. It was a dayfleet, with nearly 40...

Cool Enemy Fits #1
I think I sometimes don’t give enough props to the enemy. Some notable ones, like Dake Darkstalker of Locus Industries, literally created the standard for the armor-tanked Rupture.
Looking through our corp killmails, I noticed that fellow HUANG pilot Beetles Light had gotten a Cynabal kill for Prozacxx.
I’ve often tried to kill and catch that piratical traitor as she’s buzzed...

TLF Fail of the Week #7
Sadly, the fail of the week will not go to NoMercy uk, though with his Vindicator loss to a pile of cap ships, it was a close one to call.
No, the fail of the week goes to my friend dolmant, the ex-Amarr miltia IFW pilot, a repentent and rabid Vherokior, who in (as far as I can discern) an ill-fated attempt to bait the enemy in his Revelation dreadnaught and hot drop them, lost it to a clearly...

Traditional Vherokior Recipes: Wonton Soup
My clan has a recipe for this popular Vherokior dish that differs from many other preparations that I thought I’d share with you.
Ingredients
Filling
1/2 lb fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined, very coarsely chopped
3/4 lb pound coarse ground fatty pork
6-8 Fresh water chestnuts, peeled and cut into 1/4” dice (canned are OK but no comparison whatsoever to the fresh...

Epic Battle-ness
Faction War is often lofty null-sec alliances and even by CONCORD representatives as not ‘real’ warfare—after all, it’s in low-sec and just militias are fighting, not massive 0.0 corps.
Whoever believes this has not spent enough time in both to compare the two. Yes, in 0.0 alliance warfare you occasionally get some big, pre-determined battle with arty battleships and cap...

Oh Predator, Predator, Predator...
So, it’s been some time since I’ve posted about our Predator Elite kills. Yes, he does quite well against Militia day fleets. But, he dies with regular frequency to the Late Nite fleet. Last night, a total of three times:
Round #1. lilredman, close comrade of ex-IFW late niter Manos Kdo, caught and killed Predator on a plex gate in Kourmonen. Yours truly was docked changing ships...

Fail Fit of the Week
OK, here’s the first entry into what I hope will be an ongoing series. I encourage everyone to participate via comments, and I in fact encourage Sneaky Noob to enable this journal technology and get an account and do some guest entries on this topic, one I know that is near and dear to his heart.
This week’s Fail Fit award goes to:
nasty1 for her implementation of a classic ROSS KM...
One Lucky TLF Recruit
With most of the Star Fraction drama behind me, I was looking forward to some good combat opportunities, and I got them. I did miss rounds one and two of the evening, where the late nite fleet defeated Predator Elite’s fleet on two different occassions. More’s the pity, but at least HUANG pilots Dohl Khrensen and Urik Kahn were there to represent.
Opportunity came quickly though,...

TLF Corp Profile: ROSS
When pilots speak of miltia corps, two stand out: Ice Fire Warriors, and the Royal Order of Security Specialists. The friendly and cooperative but highly competitive relationship between IFW and ROSS is legendary. Several ROSS pilots fly regularly with the Late Nite Fleet, and IFW and other late nite pilots can often be found in the ROSS day fleets.
Between IFW and ROSS, these two corps alone...

Star Fraction erects a POS in Huola
Despite some disparagement from some in IFW and late nite, Star Fraction’s successful onlining of a POS in Huola and subsequent defense and stationing of ships there is a significant achievement and, if capitalized on, an opportunity to regain some respect they have lost. I did hear of this operation being planned but obviously was not invited to the event, though I would have gladly...
TLF Fail of the Week #6
OK, try as I could, I could not find a bigger fail in all of militia last week than mine. Poor flying and decision making on my part (note to self, for the Nth time, stop frackin’ flying when partially comotose from lack of sleep) gave the enemy two easy kills with no losses.

Scrap Iron Flotilla booted from Star Fraction
In the ongoing saga that is Star Fraction’s internal and external corp relations, one of the alliance’s most stalwart and respected corps (at least by the Minmatar Militia) has been expelled from the alliance.
Dupuy of Scrap Iron Flotilla had been attempting to mediate at least a cease-fire on the war of words between IFW/HUANG and Jericho Fraction, but it appears he was rewarded with...
Not-so TLF Newcomers: The 8th Order
A new TLF corp has been racking up some good kills just lately, and piqued my interest. The 8th Order, in the short 3 weeks they have been in TLF, have made some decent kills. A few of these really stand out:
Inoria Aknaria (my personal favorite, that filthy ex-IFW traitor)
C7P9
Endless Subversion
Looking at their overall kill record on the Minmatar Militia board, it’s clear that...

Merger Rumors
++
I’ve heard from a reliable source that a major consolidation of militia corps will be happening soon. The venerable Hoplite Brigade, consistently a top-10 killboard corp, both monthly and all-time, will be adding the up-and-coming newcomers Filthy Franchise and the more veteran Vard School of Cryo Cuisine. Apparently they will merge as a completely new corp, dubbed Autocannons...

TLF Legends: Colonel Roc Wieler
I have been reminded that there are many who have made genuine sacrifices and efforts in this endless Faction War against the Amarr, their ‘24th Imperial Crusaders,’ and their vile CVA supporters. Also, I am reminded that statistics and kill records are not everything.
What is more important is honor and largeness of spirit—something that has been lost among some within...

TLF Legends: Sasawong
Probably the most under-appreciated pilot and leader in TLF militia, Sasawong is tireless and relentless in his attempts to free the oppressed peoples of the Bleak Lands from the shackles of the Amarr Empire.
All too often fighting nearly alone and unaided, he takes on whole fleets of Amarr navy, as well as scores of enemy and pirate capsuleers, on a constant, grinding basis. His record says it...

A Polite Discussion with Jade Constantine

[05:46:27] Kuan Yida > Yes?
[05:46:37] Jade Constantine > Well I think you will get your way
[05:46:54] Jade Constantine > And we will end up withdrawing from any notion of aiding TLF
[05:46:58] Kuan Yida > I don’t particularly want any ‘way’
[05:47:08] Jade Constantine > you have a funny way of showing it

HAM Drake-ness
I was discouraged by my last outing, where my scout’s pod systems failed catastrophically at precisely the worst moment, with the result of me getting ganked by a 25+ man Amarr roaming gang we knew was nearby. (I guess Shalee caught some heat for not shooting me, but it was hardly necessary, though I did have Predator in armor before I was jammed.)
My scout, Rothgar, felt bad enough about...

More Poetry
“The hard keyura jewels hang straight down. Twirling, shining, the creatures keep falling. Truly, they are the angels’ cries of grief, clearer than hydrogen— haven’t you heard them, sometime, somewhere? You must have heard their cries stab heaven like icy spears. But if you hear of the people who fall, or of the people who, dying, breathe deep the bitter vaccum, you, as...

The End of Star Fraction?
HUANG has always had close and fond relations with Star Fraction; many old alliance mates joined Jericho Fraction or the alliance itself as a corp—most notably the excellent pilots of Scrap Iron Flotilla, one of the oldest corps with close ties with Huang Yinglong. Axen Vormar, once a commander in the Namtz’arr K’in alliance, was a pilot who I personally learned many of my own...
