Ramblings on Faction War and the corp Huang Yinglong

Blog Banter 39: Home is where your Family is…

Blog Banter 39: Home:

“Some say a man’s home is his castle. For others it is wherever they lay their hat. The concept is just as nebulous in the New Eden sandbox.

In EVE Online, what does the concept of “home” mean to you?”

My character and corp may be a rarity in Eve.  We’re a
long-lived corp by Eve standards, having recently
passed our sixth year (we were founded
2006.03.13 12:51).  As you can also see, I was invited
to join HUANG shortly after it was founded, and
HUANG has remained the only corp I’ve ever belonged
to, and from the beginning it has been my New Eden family.

Other eminent HUANG members have also been part of the corp for nearly the same length of time, and have also only flown with HUANG, or at the most one other corp:

Perhaps it’s been our shared vision of a loosely organized corp that focuses on elite combat.  We’ve never been a large corp; currently we number 18 pilots, probably an all-time high, and of those perhaps only 5 or 6 are active combat pilots.  Yet this tiny corp ranks 487th in all time kills:  14,794 to date.

Although we have had our offices in various parts of the Republic and also for a time in the Great Wildlands, we have for the past years proudly flown as a member of the Tribal Liberation Force, basing out of the war front in Auga.

Minmatar Faction War has been my other home.  HUANG was in the mix in Faction War from the beginning—indeed, the rumor that the Republic might issue letters of marque for us to engage Amarr and other enemies was one of the reasons (among many).

When we entered Faction War, we found we were among the few corps already with years of combat behind us.  Urik, Dohl and I found ourselves FCing and training many new pilots who become the core of what is now known as the Late Nite Fleet, many of whom are now great legends in their own right: Bahamut420, Manos Kdo, Dagren Darius, and many others, all now top ranked pilots in New Eden.

Although we now take a back seat to these now-seasoned and skilled warriors in most fleets, any of us are welcome additions to their fleets and when we join comms it is a greeting of good friends and comrades.

My home is my family, and my family is my corp, and my mates are the warriors of Late Nite.  Oh, I also have a really nice place in Osoggur system, and I maintain a pleasant residence in a Kourmonen station where I provide for an extended tribe of Vherokior ex-slaves and refugees.  It’s a great place to get authentic Vheriokior pan-fried dumplings.
