Ramblings on Faction War and the corp Huang Yinglong

Late Nite Captures Arzad, destroys Amarr Capitals

In a series of battles over a span of several hours, Arzad was captured by the Minmatar Republic and two Amarr carriers and a handful of support ships were destroyed.

Urik’s excellent battle report (some editorial license applied):

In the first fight, the Amarr are on the bunker defending.  We show up in system and have one triage Archon piloted by Bahamut ready to jump in.  I am the cyno pilot, and there is one backup.  Our fleet is led by TeaEarlGrey and Bahamut.  The Amarr fleet (probably led by Eran Mintor) is holding position -100 klicks off the bunker towards Ardar 6.  We warp to the planet, then to bunker.  I warp-in at 50km, the fleet at 70km.  I light a cynosural field when I land and the Amarr engage.

The idea is, the Amarr have to fly through a screen of our DPS ships to get to teh Archon that is with me behind the lines.  This works well, except an Aeon jumps in with the archon… it’s ilovemining and its a supercap!

Bahamut jumped in first and triaged right away.  The aeon jumps in, lands right on top of Bahamut, they collide with enormous force.  Bahamut’s Archon is flung back away from the fight; in less than a minute he is 60km away from the cyno field (me).

The fleet is 20km on the other side, flying toward him as fast as they can but are well out of triage range.  Worse still, the aeon was flung directly into the path of the Amarr fleet!  Once our fleet warped out, Bahamut— far from Amarr—also jumped out as soon as he had sufficient capacitor.

However, the Aeon was surrounded by Amarr fleet, and they begin to bump him so he can’t warp.  He is at half cap so he can’t jump yet.  The Amarr have some neutralizers, but, the Aeon pilot is able to warp to a planet at range and make a mid-way safe-spot.  He then reverses course, warps to his safe, and cloaks up, all on his own—great work, the Aeon is safe.

Six or so of our battleships dock up in Arzad, while the pilots who lost ships reship. We come back to the field, but the Amarr depart while we are regrouping. Ee go anyway to take the Arzad bunker and try to goad the Amarr to come back out.

We begin shooting the bunker, no response from the Amarr.  We jumps some dreadnaughts in to speed it up the siege.  There is also one Autocannons Anonymous carrier in system already, so warped to gate to support.

We blow up bunker and take the system, then wait for siege to end on the dreadnaughts—Bahamut has three minutes remaining in siege mode, and a hump cyno is ready.

Predator Elite has formed an Amarr fleet and is on his way to engage us.  With about one minute left on Bahamut’s timer, he lands his Bhaalgorn battlship at the bunker.  We agress him, and the rest of the Amarr fleet lands and pops a cyno. Two enemy carriers arrive and go right into triage, keeping Predator’s Bhaalgorn alive.

We primary first one enemy Archon  and open our own cyno.  Two friendly Nnyx supercarriers drop in, as well as more friendly carriers.  The Nyxs make short work of the Archons.  Predator initiated self destruct when the Nyxs arrive on field, so we didn’t get a kill report for him; he blew up at about same time as the second carrier.  I had damage on him the whole time, and he was in structure when he exploded, but we got nothing. (Urik laughs) Good for him I guess—he still lost the ship.  We hold and loot the field, with Curtiss’ mastadon getting the dropped enemy cap mods.  Woo! Nice fight!
