Ramblings on Faction War and the corp Huang Yinglong

Outnumbered and outfought

We’re going through one of those times again when there are few Minmatar around and LOTS of Amarr.

With those numbers, the Amarr can simply continuously overship and outweigh any fleet we can hope to bring.  Last night was a perfect example.

So, the Amarr are out in a light-medium fleet, outnumbering a smaller Minmatar BC fleet at least 2 to 1.  But instead of engaging with relatively even odds (if the fleets had been reversed, a Late Nite fleet would have immediately pounced), they retreat to Huola and shipped up to mainly BCs.

So, our BC fleet fights an Amarr BC fleet with twice our numbers, and even with 2 Guardians on the field, with their 8 BCs + HACs and cruisers to our 5 BCs, we melt fast and die.

Well, 8 BCs + support.  We figure if we grab 4 battleships and one more Guardian, that would be a fair fight, even though we aren’t 100% confident of victory.  But as we undock, the Amarr do what comes naturally to them when the odds are even—they flee.

And return with even more numbers, and mainly battleships—not satifisied with out numbering us 2:1, they decide to outweigh us by more than 3:1, bringing twelve battleships fitted with neuts and ECM (and more than a handful of battlecruisers and other support) to fight our four battleships.

Well, I suppose the Amarr are to be congratulated for such an easy military victory.  Quite honestly, with the numbers and weight they brought losing only what we did seems like a light loss—they only destroyed two of our 4 battleships, and managed to take down 2 enemy battlecruisers before dying.  As I told then on public comms, that was very bravely done.

Of course, the night had to be capped for me by having my cadet frigate told to wait for docking while a hostile was camped at the station, causing a pod and clone loss for me.  Dying never seems to get any easier.

Only one small bright spot… out of ISK and unable to re-fit a new Tempest hull (provided to me by Tea at a steep discount), I’m moving a Typhoon from Osoggur to Auga, when we discover BANE camping the gate.  Tea leroys to the gate and get them agressed, Zos and I jump in, and we manage to get one BANE drake.
