I played a little EVE last night. I could go on about EVE for a long, long time… For my money, I think it’s probably the best MMO in out there. There’s good reason it’s the first and only MMO at the Museum of Modern Art.

WantToTrade: Tags for Security Status:

We are adding some new pirate NPCs (non-player characters)
These NPCs will only appear in asteroid belts in low-security space
When killed, these new NPCs will drop a new type of pirate tag
These new pirate tags can be taken to a CONCORD station (in low-sec space) and turned in at the new ‘Security Office’ station service
Turning in one of these tags will raise the security status of your character

So excited. For me, this will be one of the best features ever…

Day 2 of Fanfest

I hopefully got enough sleep last night. Which is good. However I still don’t feel quite awake.

I met up with some guys who have recently joined with Nuli. Older guys, they were pretty laid back, even when it came out that LNA used to do some major “burn and pillage” roams in Providence back in the day… and they lived out there around the same time. It seems that just about everyone I have become friendly with I may have killed or attempted to kill at some point in the past. So far I have not been asked to make any apologies. Which is good, because I won’t give any.

The schedule for today looks pretty full.

First a talk about the economy of EVE at 11am (5 minutes from now) followed by a round table for Faction War (I expect to meet some of our enemies here, including fweddits if they are present), ship balancing efforts, community discussion or DUST planetary conquest in low-sec, and a few other things. Then there is the EVE keynote which everyone here is looking forward to. After that… pub crawl. God help my liver.

4 hours later…

Starting with the irrelevant stuff…

the average age of attendees here starts somewhere around mid to late 20s and goes all the way up to the mid 50s with some 60 and 70 year olds peppered in here or there.
I’m pretty sure I just met the nerdy reincarnation of Rasputin (just look at a picture of Rasputin on Google and picture him with bad teeth and flannel).
there are a metric fuckton of Canadians here. Tea would feel at home.
there are A LOT of Russians here too.
the other beer of choice here is Tuborg (Classic) which tastes a lot like Anchor Steam but FAR less hoppy.
I have found the Icelandic equivalent to Budwieser/Miller/Coors… Polar Bear.
CCP Yerbittium (sp?) talks in a VERY heavy French accent.

Important stuff now…

CCP is actively working on a way to get rid of off grid boosters. Ideally CCP Fozzy would like them to operate similar to bubbles, but they will just be happy to make them work on grid only. Another thing to point out is that any changes they make to off grid boosting will also come alongside changes to boosting capable ships (i.e. make them more capable of dealing with an actual combat situation).
CCP Rise and Fozzy are looking at ways to balance dreds and carriers… specifically the Nidhoggur. They are not happy about the Moros’ dominance among dreds and want to make it such that the current meta is not “Archon or GTFO.”
CCP Yerbittium (sp?) mentioned that there will be major changes with regards to industrials… making them similar to mining barges in terms of how they are balanced).
The relationship between the Dominix and Armageddon will be closely watched CCP Rise assures me. I have a feeling that the current stats for both ships will go through as is and will only be changed in a year or so if or when a horrible imbalance between the two is found.
When asked if there are any thoughts or plans about creating an aggro flag for neutrals that entered an FW plex CCP Fozzie nodded, made a face, scribbled a notation, and said “interesting.” Maybe they had never considered the idea? Hard to imagine.
CCP has toyed with the idea of making Faction Warfare extend out to the pirate factions… but there are logistical and balance issues with this they say.
CCP Fozzie explained that while they currently don’t have the ability to just “flip a switch” and prevent ships with certain mods from entering FW p,exes (warp core stabs, cloaks, etc) they COULD add it… they are just hesitant to. Ideally, they would like to find an “organic” solution that would encourage people not fit certain mods and perform certain actions over others.
FW cyno jammers are a dead idea. Moving on.
The reason militia people are allowed to dock in enemy high-sec is to prevent the restriction of FW to strictly low-sec. They WANT us to go into enemy high-sec and kill our enemies… Jalmon style.
CCP are toying with the idea of making the actions ofFW affect high-sec… such as taxes being raised on the losing faction to encourage people to fight for their own economic self interest… but they are aware that this might cause the opposite effect.
There was a grand total of one Amarr militia guy at the FW round table. He didn’t recognize our alliance. Fail.
I’m eavesdropping on some TEST talking about their POCOs and how they might be running low on them soon. When I get back I’m investing some LP in POCO bpc’s.
